Frequently Asked Questions

Decorating your home is a very personal and enjoyable thing to do, however it can be a bit daunting to undertake yourself, especially if you don’t have the experience or time yourself.  I have tried, therefore, to answer some of the more basic questions you may have.  If you have any specific queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Do you undertake small jobs?

I am quite happy to take on jobs of all sizes, and will provide the same level of service however big or small.

Do you charge for written quotations?

Quotations, whether written or verbal are made with no obligations and no charge.

Is a deposit normally paid before you start the job?

No deposits or advances are requested before I start the job.  Normally I invoice upon completion of a job and once the client is satisfied, with the exception of large projects when I invoice fortnightly.

Are your quotes fixed price or do they vary?

Quotations for a job are fixed unless there are unknown elements which occur during the work.   These would be discussed with the client to make sure that all options are considered and to gain approval before any additional work was undertaken.

Are you insured and do you guarantee your work?

My certificate of liability insurance is available for inspection if required.   My work is guaranteed for 12 months from completion or invoice date.

Would I need to take time off work whilst the work is being carried out?

Provided that you are comfortable with this then I am quite happy to work at your property whilst you are at work or even on holiday.  The security of your property would be respected at all times.

Do you move furniture?

It is inevitable that there are occasions when moving furniture is essential to my work and no charge is made for this.

How do you protect carpets and furniture?

Great care is taken to protect client’s possessions using dustsheets and tape wherever necessary.

Will there be equipment, paint etc left all over the place?

At the end of each working day, all paint, ladders and other equipment will be removed to a safe place such as a garage.  Carpets will be vacuumed and rooms left clean and tidy.

Do you supply the materials for the job?

Not usually, as it is best for the client to choose the brand and exact colour and finish to their satisfaction.  However, basic colours of paint may be provided.

Are you able to advise on colour schemes?

I am not an interior designer, but my experience does mean that I would be happy to make suggestions if required, however the final choice obviously lies with the client.

Will I get a written invoice for the work completed?

All contracts are invoiced and signed as received upon receipt of a cheque at completion.
